The Burr Cut – A Classic Military Haircut

Another one of those cool military cuts: the Burr Cut

The burr cut is that typical military haircut that you know whoever is wearing it is one tough mother tucker. As you good men know, my favorite haircut is obviously the High and Tight but the burr cut is yet another military style that I am happy to buzz for other men.

How to do a burr cut the military way

Simply grab your hair clipper, stick a #2 guard and buzz on, brother. Just use the same guard, it’s that simple. Make sure your hair clipper is a good one and even better if it’s a heavy duty one like the Oster Classic or the Andis BGR. The guys at the Men’s Hair Forum have a great discussion going on in the hair products for men section in a thread titled “Hair clippers for men, any good ones?” where they compare hair clippers and give some excellent clipper recommendations, so have a look there first (click the link to the forum section and search for the thread, it’s a sticky in the first page) if you’re interested in buying a hair clipper. They also recommended the Oster Classic and Andis BGR, so I know those guys know their stuff because I know my stuff and those two clippers are among the best a civilian could get, although they are pricey but you get what you pay for with a clipper, and a good hair clipper like any of the two above will last you years, so look at it as a durable investment. Simple.

Burr cut or high and tight?

Up to you, my fellow men. I would say the high and tight and especially the Recon is a more fashionable hairstyle for civilians while the burr cut is more convenient. While both haircuts are very easy to do by yourself if you have a good hair clipper, it’s obviously the burr cut the one that is more convenient for you need just one guard instead of two guards. By the way, the hair clippers recommended at the Men’s Hair Forum all come with a set of guards so your investment will be worth it and will allow you to get all kind of cuts, military or not.

See you here, brothers.
